First, a special event was held at the National Botanic Garden of Wales on 1st June - with professional harpist, Shelley Fairplay entertaining Garden visitors with beautiful musical performances in the magical surroundings of the Great Glasshouse. Everyone, of all ages, also had the opportunity to join in and have a go on Shelley's beautiful lap harps in a number of 'Hand on Harps' sessions held throughout the day.
This day gave us the chance to showcase our Hwyl Events, and we were really pleased to chat with many visitors from all corners of the world, who told us that they loved the fact that these new experiences would offer them the chance to learn more about the distinctive culture and traditions of Wales.
Next, was the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards Ceremony on the evening of 6th June, where we also shared our plans for the Hwyl Events. This time though, updating representatives from a wide range of tourism and hospitality businesses - including hotels, bed & breakfasts, caravan parks, restaurants and visitor attractions - all of whom can benefit from these new events, and whose customers can enjoy them!
The ceremony host, Aled Rhys Jones, gave a little insight into what will be on offer from this summer onwards. Male voice choirs will feature prominently in our events line-up - and the award-winning Llanelli Male Voice Choir gave a wonderful showcase, entertaining the audience with mix of iconic Welsh songs as well as some contemporary, up-beat tunes. Aled himself will host a number of our HwylNos events - and based on the excellent feedback that we've had on his role as host at the awards ceremony, we know that he'll do a great job!
We're looking forward to giving visitors to Carmarthenshire and West Wales a warm 'Croeso' (welcome) to our future Hwyl Events!
