All set for a day of Hwyl @ the Garden

On Thursday the 23rd of August the National Botanic Garden of Wales will host Hwyl @ the Garden – a fantastic family day out offering a real Welsh experience.

Visitors to the Garden will be able to enjoy a range of activities celebrating and showcasing Wales including, dancing, music and stories. S4C TV personality Tudur Phillips, will be on hand with his clog dancing workshops, harpist Shelley Fairplay will be showcasing the harp with her Hands on Harp and Tiny Hands on Harp sessions and Nick Brunger Storyteller leading visitors around the garden on foot with his Storytelling walks.

There’ll also be story time and song sessions plus craft activities throughout the day with Menter Cwm Gwendraeth and music from soloist Catrin Ann.  And for any creative children there’ll be an opportunity to paint your own pottery and make your own pot on the pottery wheel.

And a celebration of all things Wales would not be complete without a touch of rugby and joining Hwyl @ the Garden will be the Scarlets rugby with their team mascot Cochyn.

Hwyl @ the Garden is part of Hwyl Events, a range of Welsh themed events hosted at venues across Carmarthenshire organised by Carmarthenshire Tourism Association (CTA). Nia Ball Chief Executive of CTA said,

 “Hwyl @ the Garden is set to be a wonderful family event showcasing all that Wales has to offer. From dancing workshops, to music and rugby sessions, there’ll be something on offer for children of all ages and it’s set to be a great family day out”.

In addition to all the Hwyl @ the Garden activities visitors will also be able to enjoy all the garden favourites including the Butterfly House, the Great Glasshouse, the Children’s Play Area and more.

The Garden will be open from 10am-6pm with the Hwyl @ the Garden activities taking place from 10am-4pm. Normal garden admission charges apply and activities are including in the entry fee (there will be an additional charge for the pottery activities) and visitors will be able to book on sessions on arrival at the Garden with the Hwyl @ the Garden team.
